Can't think of a title

Ok, so tutored again. Last week I was doing math, simple perimeter, circumference stuff. Most of the kids were able to do it without much trouble, some had a lot of trouble. This week we were doing science. The teacher was missing a key ingredient in the lab we were going to do so we did boring shit instead. Sadly the first week she didn't know I was going to be there so she had nothing special set up for me to do with the kids she thought needed extra help, I just helped were I could. This week she again didn't have anything ready for me because the lab was a bust, spent half the time just sitting there listening to the students read the same science stuff twice (two different classes) about the 5 kingdoms of life, which might have been interesting the first time if I didn't already know it all. King Philip Came Over For Great Spaghetti. The non-sitting around parts were fun though, and there was a lot of laughing to be had. She did promise next week to have more for me to do, it probably helps that next week is going to be math again, which is easier to tutor. Happy I answered your question from long ago(like 3 weeks)?

Not so snow day

Ok, it has been a while but I have been......lazy would sum it up. I went to do my first round of tutoring last thursday. I got up at 5am and it was snowing and there was already a bunch of snow on the ground, especially for a pasadena boy so I KNEW it would be a snow day. But ofcourse I had to get ready last minute when it wasn't. I got there really early after the two buses and train (not too bad of a commute) and had to wait after finding the room empty. To sum it up, the teacher was cool, the two classes of students were cool and smarter then I thought they would be (I guess I just assume kids are stupid, which is one of the things that would make me a great teacher), I was a little nervous, but tried my best to get in the thick of it. On the way home it was snowing so hard that standing, waiting for the bus I started to be covered in snow. If I stood there any longer I would have become a snowman. UTD classes were cancelled after 3pm so I was free for the rest of the day. I just vegged after that. Picture time!

a few hours later then pic below, must thicker (having trouble getting pics in order)

First step for teaching kind

So, I went to my tutoring orientation at the RISD Administration Building. I got Skyview Elementary, which is actually in Dallas even though it is in the Richardson school district, so weird. It is kind of far for someone without a car (3 buses, two transfers, and have to walk a little), but it could be worse. I took the worst pic in history for my id, I look like a suicidal pothead. I am trying to get large chunks of tutoring time so I don't have to go so many times (instead of 7 trips of 3 hours or so, it will be like 5 trips of 4 hours each). That will make life a lot easier. I'm really excited! :D

So terrible!

rant

Ok, this is texas, TEXAS PEOPLE, one of the few good things about this state is that it gets only down to a nice level of cold, but not freaking cold, or that was a fact until now. The high today is going to be 31 degrees and the high tomorrow is 2o freaking 7! I'm going to be walking a mile at 6am tomorrow when it is going to be like 16 degrees out! Anyways, still working on my drawing for a friend for a x-mas gift (yes, I know it is very late) and it is also very bad, but it is cheap, and I am poor. The computer my brother built for me, which I paid partly for, and one reason I am currently poor is messing up, no volume. This sucks because the main reason for the desktop is to be able to play the new games, which it does well, but what is the point of games without sound, right Kat? :P Ok, more later maybe.

Epiphany with extra pip

I just got my free bus pass for 2010, its surprising that the decade is almost over. I can't believe that at the start of the decade I was just beginning high school. I guess I am noticing because this has obviously my most active decade so far. My last decade started when I was 4, so even though I was quite active when I was a wee one; biting, kicking, running around in circles (for me it was the terrible 4s) I have been more "adult" active this soon to be passing decade then any other. I am old enough, 23, to truly understand what the end of the decade means. It means I am getting fucking oooooooooooold! Actually it isn't the years that I care about, it is the fact that I haven't really done anything with my time. I mean sure, I have learned how to pass MOST of my classes, and I have learned how to keep from being fired at a boring ass, yep stressful job, but nothing of worth. Hmm, now that I have had an epiphany about my life I will do what everyone else does and forget about it and keep doing what I have been doing. Later!

Ohhhh the little things

Ok, I love the cold, especially seeing as I live in texas and we don't get cold very long, heat yes, cold no; but some things about the cold quite suck. Example: It takes a great effort just to go to the mail box. Usually I would just walk over to it barefoot and wearing what ever I have on, seeing as it isn't that far away, but when it is freezing outside things become more difficult. I have to put on pants, shoes and socks, two jackets, gloves, and maybe a head covering of some kind; so a trip that usually takes a few minutes takes like 3 or 4 times as long. Ok, i'm done bitching.

the friday that is black

If people think stores are crazy on black friday they should see the backrooms leading up to the most holy and cursed of days. It is still over a week until friday the 27th and already today it was already pandemonium in the secret place behind the store, where I work, where they keep all the shit. I was seriously like a bunch of ants moving around, doing their little tasks, if ants worked like they were on crack. In one room there was a line of the same tv so long that you could barely see the end; like freaking 40 42inch tvs crammed together awaiting the friday from hell. The scary thing is that we are going to keep getting more and more stuff, even though we don't have the room for it and of course the one thing we don't get in time will probably be the one thing everyone wants. Last year I got yelled at by a customer because we didn't have some freaking $10 gps holder he wanted. Luckily he was the only asshole who wanted one. Technically I am not supposed to even call it black friday though, apparently because some old, white, obese woman complained in some store, some where that black friday is racist, we are supposed to call it a "yearly event". It will forever be black friday to me, or atleast until they come up with a better name. Pray for me :(, not that I think prayer works, but because I like to keep all my options open.
